Duties & Responsibilities of position

As our Farm Hand, you will join a dynamic team at Thomas Foods International Rural (TFIR). Working across all aspects of the Southern Cross property, responsibilities will include Livestock, irrigation, Cropping and pasture Management. The position is suited to someone with proven experience and aptitude for all facets of Animal Husbandry and Broad acre farming practices.

Work will include, but is not limited to reporting on all aspects of the role directly to the Farm Manager and keeping accurate records of all work completed. Safe operation of all machinery and equipment and maintaining tidiness and order in the farm workplace. The ability to work with cattle and sheep and to be able to perform any other duties as directed or required.

What you will need

  • Drivers License
  • Current Chemcert Accreditation
  • Minimum five years agricultural experience

You will also need

  • Sound knowledge and application of good animal husbandry practices.
  • Good communication skills, have a flexible approach with the ability to self-motivate and prioritise workloads during busy periods
  • Must be able to conduct work safely in the workplace in line with company policy.
  • Have capacity to project beyond the immediate task.
  • The skills to operate a range of farm machinery and equipment, with the ability to carry out general repairs and maintenance.
